Day 5 - Zion National Park, Utah

I had visited Zion in April 2019 and was really looking forward to going back to do some of the hikes. This was not the right time for hiking. The Narrows had bacteria, part of Angel's Landing was closed, and the park was very crowded. That being said, it was only 45 minutes away. Driving through the park was still very fun and a sight to see. The winding road provided for a breathtaking drive with plenty of pullouts to stop and admire the view. Zion is amazing if you haven't been, I recommend staying in the park or in Springdale to enjoy Zion.

After Zion, we didn't have a set destination (spontaneity was a theme for our trip which it made it fun). We finally decided to make the hour long drive to Bryce Canyon. Bryce Canyon is on Scenic Byway 12, which I drove with my friend Dana a year and a half before. It is beautiful. If you enjoy driving windy roads, aren't afraid of heights, and don't mind a lack of cell service, it is one of the most scenic drives in the country.

At this point we were hungry! We decided to get a hotel and take a break before exploring more. We drove past the entrance of the Bryce where several hotels were but it looked overcrowded. Still hungry and searching for a place to stay, we ended up finding a little motel about 15 minutes away in the town of Tropic, UT. It ended up being the perfect spot for the night.

When I checked in I was told there were two restaurants within walking distance. We dropped off our bags and walked over to 'IDK Barbecue.' Being in the tiny town of Tropic, we were pleasantly surprised with what it had to offer. We both ordered a two meat, two side platter and a peach cobbler to share. Insider voted this best bbq in Utah.
